Mr. Slate’s practice is focused primarily on family law matters including adoptions, custody issues, child support, paternity, dependency, modifications, and divorce. He also handles probate matters, represents several area landlords in eviction matters, and is a Registered Mediator with the Alabama Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Samford University in 1991, and his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1993, Scott spent the next fourteen years practicing law in Morgan County and the surrounding area. In 2008, Mr. Slate felt the call to serve as a foreign missionary. After serving in Ireland with his family for ten years, Scott returned home to resume his law practice and continue his call to ministry and service to the people of Morgan County, Alabama. Scott joined the firm in early 2019. He is an active member of First Bible Church of Decatur, a member of the Decatur Kiwanis Club, a board member and past president of the River Clay Fine Arts Festival, and a board member of the Princess Theater.
